Before the party happens, there are a lot of preparations to be done by the host. These preparations involve a lot of work and effort of the host. The best thing you can do for yourself is to write out the checklist of all the things that need to be done and when it will need to be done.

The first thing you need to write down on your checklist is your budget for the party. By creating the budget, you will know how many guests you can invite. This will lead to the next section of your list, the guests. You should have the list of guests you will invite. Set a day of when to buy and send out the invitations. You should send out the invitations at least three weeks before the party. Then, they will have two weeks to decide attending or not. This will help you tracking the number of guests who will really attend the party. Create a second list for that.

Next on your checklist should be the place where the party will be held.  If you are not sure to hire an outside ender or not, you may want to do a little research. Put on your checklist calling venders to get price quotes. You will need to ask them if they will provide food or not. You can then determine if you like to host the party at your home and hire a caterer. You will need to put ‘get quotes from caterers’ on your checklist. You may want to make all the food yourself. Then you need to put ‘investigate how much supplies and food’ on your checklist.

Another thing you may want to put on your checklist is buying supplies like plates, napkins, cups, drinks and food. You may also want to add researching and hiring rentals like tables, chairs or some other things if it is required to your checklist.

The exact things you will put on your own checklist are greatly varied from different party. But you should realize that having a checklist will help you to stay organized, get things done at the right time and to host the best party you can!
