Here’s some fun and cheap ways to store/serve the party drinks:

Don’t panic — there are lots of fun and easy party ideas at PartyIdeaPros.com. If you choose to purchase any items online, just ask the sellers to rush shipment and you will have everything you need delivered to your front door before June 6th.
No need for formal invitations — just email or call your mom’s friends today.
Next, check out these Party Idea Pros birthday party theme ideas, any of which could work for a 50th birthday party, depending on your mom’s interests:
Best Vintage Yet
What’s Cooking
Ladies’ Night Out
Garden Delights
Card Games
If none of the ideas above grab you, consider a “my favorite things” night where the theme of the party is all about your mom. For dinner serve her favorite foods and if that food happens to be chocolate, fully embrace it — you can even serve broiled salmon rubbed in cocoa and cumin. Serve the meal on her favorite china. Decorate with her favorite flowers in her favorite color. Put pictures of your family everywhere and pull out all the old family photo albums so they are available to share with your guests — there is no doubt you all are on the very top of her favorites list. Play a “mom’s favorites” trivia game and let her friends share their favorite “mom” stories. Be sure to tell her friends ahead of time so they come prepared with a story. Videotape these stories and later put them all together on a special DVD. And I absolutely agree with everyone else — if you have the time to create a short video/photo montage –no more than 12 minutes — go for it but if you are still in school or are super busy, you can work on it over the summer and unveil both videos on your trip in October. Tell you guests to skip the presents and instead make a donation of time or money or both to your mom’s favorite charitable organizations.
The party will all come together beautifully, so don’t worry. Your mom will appreciate all of your efforts!
